Zelus's Story

Zelus was born out of necessity. In the summer of 2021, Scott Schultz, MD, was training in the sweltering heat and started to feel unwell. As an emergency medicine doctor who had witnessed the devastating effects of heat illnesses, he became concerned about his safety.

Determined to mitigate the risk, Scott sought to use Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) guidance to better gauge when and how hard to train. However, he found that obtaining WBGT readings required expensive specialized devices. Driven by this challenge, Scott invested hundreds of hours researching a solution to make WBGT accessible to everyone.

By the fall of 2021, Scott formed a team to create the first prototype of the Zelus WBGT system. The response to the prototype was overwhelmingly positive, leading to the formation of Zelus. Today, Zelus is an industry leader in WBGT technology, dedicated to ensuring safer training and working conditions for all.
