fAQs — Frequently Asked Questions

01. Is the Zelus System OSHA compliant?
Under the OSHA Technical Manual Section III, Chapter 4, Step 1: Option B, OSHA explicitly allows organizations to calculate WBGT using weather data. This is a core principle behind Zelus. It enables organizations to assess heat risk across multiple locations without deploying hardware, while still following OSHA-recognized methodology.
Zelus also aligns with U.S. military requirements per the Department of the Air Force Instruction 48-151 (2.10.8.2).
02. Do you offer discounts to schools or organizations
Yes! Please email us at sales@zelusports.com and we will provide you with group pricing.
03. Do you have an API?
Our software is unique and patent pending. You can only get these services through Zelus.
04. Must I use a saved location if I use the Zelus System for activity modifications?
While using the Teams version, for accurate WBGT readings when making activity modifications, you must use a saved location. The “current location” option relies on the last GPS coordinates provided by your device, which may be inaccurate.
05. Is the WBGT accurate
In a data set of over 20,000 unique readings from May to November, WBGT calculated from weather parameters were routinely within 1 degree Celsius of WBGT using a gold standard WBGT device.
06. Does it work on artificial turf?
Contrary to popular belief, the playing surface does not change the WBGT to any appreciable degree.
